Money Move: Celebrate how far youâve come
Reel of the Week: When âlow budgetâ becomes $10K
13 years ago I quit my corporate finance job to work full-time as a money coach and run a blog about money.
I had a vague plan, $20K in savings (I called it my âproject freedom fundâ), and a lot of people thought I was nuts.
Today my first ever podcast, âHow Do You Afford This?â is LIVE
This feels like the next chapter of everything Iâve been building since day one: making money feel less intimidating, less secretive, and a lot more useful.
Iâll be talking to people about the choices, tradeoffs, lessons, and behind-the-scenes decisions that shape their lives, and how those conversations can help us get more intentional with our own money.
Come for the tea. Leave with a blueprint.
There are a few ways you can support me that would take less than 5 minutes and would mean the world.
Follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. 4 episodes dropped today and weâll have new episodes every week. Trust me, you donât want to miss them (links to Apple Podcasts and Spotify).
Leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts. It takes just a minute (or 2) and it helps more people find the show. Even just a sentence helps!
Share the podcast with your friends! Youâll get credit for introducing them to their fave new podcast (yea, I said it!) and youâll help support my mission of making crafting a wealthy life more accessible, more transparent and a whole lot more fun.
Once you do all 3, submit your screenshots here for a seat at an exclusive Money Party, a chance to win a year in The Money Club ($390 values), books and more.
SO grateful for you. I think Iâm going to have butterflies all day.
P.S. Starting next week, there will be a new section of this newsletter breaking down the weekly âHow Do You Afford This?â episode. Youâll get a sneak peek into what we cover each week.
CELEBRATE HOW FAR YOUâVE COME.
Itâs so easy to get caught up in where we want to be that we often forget to celebrate how far weâve already come. I see this happen in my own life when it comes to my money and my business.
Although itâs important to have goals and to check in to make sure weâre on track, itâs just as important to enjoy the progress and reward yourself for your accomplishments.
Take a few minutes to reflect: how far have you come in the past 5 years? The past year? 6 months? Month? How has your business evolved? Are you saving more money than you were before? How does your retirement account compare to a year ago?
Progress isnât always linear, so weâll certainly experience down periods even when weâre on the road to success.
Whatâs something youâre proud of accomplishing in your money life recently? Take time to celebrate that this week. Will you indulge in a 1x treat, cheers with a friend or do a happy dance?
Hit reply and let me know. I love hearing about your wins!
Here are all the amazing money moves you made this week CONGRATS! Celebrating you all!
SydneyH: Finally opened a ROTH IRA!
Kristi: There was a huge expense costing us $10k/year (kept rising) that seemed unavoidable. I spent 6 months developing a plan, researching, negotiating, etc. to bring it down to $1.7k/year and we made it happen! So happy!
Alma: Paid off four small accounts since April. Working on the big ones now!
Rachel: Paid for my car insurance for the next 6 months (saved $137 w/o a payment plan)
Patti: Walked to the library to read magazines rather than buying them
Sinead: Saved $130K
